Sounds of the Northern Lights

While posting some Swedish songs to her personal profile, M figured she missed a tumblr dedicated to Scandinavian music. She invited R to join as a co-editor, and after a little while, S joined the team. So here it is: Sounds of the Northern Lights - A blog dedicated to Scandinavian music of all genres. Feel free to comment, request or suggest / m, r & s

Oskar Linnros - Hur dom än (2013)

Linnros was a founder member of swedish rap band Snook. Now he’s gone solo and explores more melodic material. Rather minimalistic in build, but with lot of atmosphere.

Linnros has also produced a lot of Veronica Maggio’s material.

MOI - After you, Sir (2011)

This song took MOI (aka Ingjerd Omland) to the norwegian indie/underground music competition URØRT finale. She broke into the Norwegian marked winning the radiochannel p3’s cover competition covering fellow norwegian band Kaizer’s Orchestra.

Her music is poppy, playful and reminiscent that of Anja Garbarek’s more mainstreem songs.

Jonna Lee - Something so quiet (2009)

Before iamamiwhoami, Jonna Lee performed as a solo artist. Her previous material is less electronic and lighter at heart. It’s pop, but with a melancholic and somewhat leftfield edge.

Quadron - Hey Love (2013)

A cute song with a joyful danceful music video

Kate Boy “Northern Lights” 2012

Hilde Marie Kjersem - FTS (2012)

Amanda Mair - House  (2012)

Karin Park - Fryngies (2012)

Frida Hyvönen - Terribly dark (2012)

Veronica Maggio (with Christian Walz on backing vocals) - Mitt hjärta blöder (2012)
